In the European Union, autonomous vehicles (SAE Levels L4 – L5) are required by law to monitor and store certain events related to the autonomous driving task.

At AUMOVIO Engineering Solutions, we support OEMs in meeting EU and German regulatory requirements for autonomous driving with flexible DSSAD and EDR-AD software solutions. Beyond compliance, our technology enables precise recording, reconstruction, and analysis of critical driving events — delivering both legal certainty and valuable insights for the safe global deployment of highly automated vehicles.

The EU regulation requires an Event Data Recorder – Automated Driving (EDR-AD). However, in Germany the Data Storage System for Automated Vehicles (DSSAD) is mandatory. These features are to be clearly distinguished from the conventional Event Data Recorder.

AUMOVIO Engineering Solutions supports OEMs of highly automated vehicles with a software solution for these regulations. This software feature can be implemented either on a customer or on our ECU.
Apart from the regulations, this functionality is also globally relevant for recording, reconstruction and analysis of critical driving situations.
