CES collaborates with Siemens Mobility on eHighway Technology

We are happy to announce our partnership with Siemens Mobility for a climate-friendly mobility by enabling an energy-efficient, cost-effective and zero-emission heavy cargo traffic.

Heavy cargo traffic on the roads is currently far away from achieving ambitious legal climate protection targets set by the EU, particularly in terms of CO2 savings. Road haulage causes one third of the transport sectors CO2 emissions in Germany alone. The strategic electrification of heavy goods traffic on motorways is a highly important piece of the puzzle for a new, climate-friendly mobility.

Continental Engineering Services is as a development and production service provider collaborating with Siemens Mobility in the development and production of truck pantographs for use on so-called eHighways. The eHighway technology is a ready-to-use technology for an energy-efficient, cost-effective and zero-emission heavy cargo traffic. It delivers electricity through overhead lines to trucks with electric drives (such as hybrid trucks, fuel cell trucks or battery-electric trucks) on key sections of the highway. As a certified automotive supplier, CES will further develop the necessary pantograph of the system and produce it according to automotive standards, adapted to the most diverse truck drivetrain concepts.
