InnoTrans 2026 once again demonstrated the rail industry‘s commitment to safer, smarter, and more efficient mobility solutions. At Stadler’s booth, AUMOVIO Engineering Solutions (AES) showcased its radar-based platform surveillance solution and engaged with industry stakeholders on the future of railway safety. A key milestone of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Stadler, marking the start of a partnership focused on exploring advanced safety technologies for rail applications.
AUMOVIO Engineering Solutions signs MoU with Stadler Signalling
Together with partners such as Stadler, AES is committed to advancing next-generation railway solutions. By combining automotive expertise, advanced sensing technologies, and engineering excellence, we aim to support safer, smarter, and more reliable rail operations.
Towards furthering this objective, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 24, 2026. We spoke with Albrecht Teich, CEO of Stadler Signalling Deutschland, Marc Trippel, EVP of Stadler Division Signalling, and Harald Renner, Director Finance & Purchasing of AES about emerging trends in railway safety, the value of transferring automotive technologies to rail applications, and the opportunities ahead through our newly established partnership.
What started with skepticism quickly turned into excitement: ‘Let’s continue the discussion. This could be a game changer.’

Bringing radar technology to rail
Railway platforms are dynamic environments where safety and operational efficiency must go hand in hand. Operators need reliable information about potential hazards without creating unnecessary interruptions through false alarms.
AUMOVIO Engineering Solutions’ radar-based platform surveillance solution continuously monitors defined platform areas, reliably detecting people and objects to support safer operations.
A key advantage highlighted during InnoTrans 2026 was the ability of radar technology to perform reliably in challenging environments. While optical systems can be affected by limited visibility, radar continues to detect people and objects in rain, fog, snow, darkness, and varying lighting conditions. This level of robustness makes radar an attractive technology for railway applications, where safety depends on continuous and dependable monitoring.
